At Next Step Digital Solutions working remotely is always been our way of life. As such, COVID-19 has not interrupted our internal flow. As many businesses are implementing work-from-home measures to help with flattening the Coronavirus curve. Here are a few tips for a seamless transition to a remote workforce:
For Employers
Make sure employees have the tools and equipment they need to work effectively: This includes instant messaging apps, video conferencing tools, and reliable internet access. For many, THE equipment needed includes a computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Encourage employees to designate a workspace in their home: Separating work from life helps employees focus and stay organized throughout the day.
Clearly communicate remote team expectations: Employees should know when they’re expected to be on and working, how to communicate availability, and which meetings they’re expected to attend virtually.
Take precautions to keep your business data and your employees safe: This is where you can reiterate the company’s security policy. Reminding employees to treat working from home with the due care as working in the office.
For Employees
- Have a designated workspace
- Have a work plan
- Anticipate and avoid disruptions
- Set your boundaries
- Enjoy while it lasts.
Working remotely can be a complete challenge for employers and employees alike, it can take over your time and life. Working or operating a traditional job or office for a while, it can be a challenge to make the adjustment from in-office work to working a home.
